Self Expression VS Business
Self expression or business?
6 March 2021
It is a fact that many people thought in the beginning that by sharing their art and ideas on social media they would become successful entrepreneurs, gaining huge numbers of followers and living by selling their art.
In the past 6 years I have spent an enormous amount of time on social media, business-wise and privately. After a while I felt I needed another forum for my self-expression, and in 2016 Instagram came into perspective, which I used as a blog forum — sharing nature photos and professional pictures and looking for amazing nature photographers and bloggers.
The difficulty with these things is that they can sometimes become a trap. All human attitudes appear here the same way as in real life. When we use social media as a tool to introduce our hobby or art, after a while we reach a level of followers that requires a raised amount of attention and communication. We need to sit down and check: did I spend enough time with my children, dog, partner and friends? Or was I rather stuck on the screen, not even understanding why I feel so tired?
To handle it smartly, set up in your mind the aim you are there for and the purpose you want to achieve. If it is not close to supporting your future goals, get rid of it. If you want to make business with it, you need to set up a unique communication strategy, find the tools and services through which you become unique, and use a professional advertisement structure to reach your target audience — instead of chit-chatting on your smartphone the whole day.
If you use these forums as a professional, create quality content depending on the areas you work on. And if you have better aims than being stuck on the screen, go and do it — smell some fresh air, meet your friends and invest energy in your real connections. Wishing good luck to everyone! Best regards, Unicorn.
